John A. "Jack" Jordan Sr.

John A. "Jack" Jordan Sr., 86, of Beaver, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2008, in The Medical Center, Beaver.

Jack was born December 1, 1921 in Vanport, and was the son of the late E.A. and Blanch Douds Jordan. He retired from St. Joe, where he was known as Tiny, after 40 years of service, was a graduate of Beaver High School, Class of 1939, had attended Geneva College, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Jack was active in the First Christian Church of Beaver, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, Missions Committee member, Deacon and Elder. He was also a member of the F&AM St. James Lodge, New Castle Consistory and the Shriners, and had served as a member of the Advisory Board of the Beaver Rainbow Assembly. Jack was co-founder and first President of the H.C. Fry Glass Society. In addition to his love of glass, he enjoyed life, his home, his family, and friends.

He was a devoted husband of 65 years to Dorothy Durvin Jordan; loving father of Kathleen Hayden and her husband Jeffrey, Hammond, IN, and loving grandfather of Jenifer Jordan, Rising Sun, OH, and Molly Jordan, Toledo, OH. Also surviving is a daughter-in-law, Denise Shipley Jordan, Toledo, OH.

Preceding him in death were his son, John A. Jordan Jr.; his sisters, Mary E. and Rebecca, and brother David.

A service honoring Jack's memory was held Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the First Christian Church of Beaver, corner of Iroquois and Otter, by his pastor Reverend Gary Wackler, with a fellowship time following.

He walked among us quietly, but he was always God's servant, showing love and concern to everyone he met.

The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Beaver Area Memorial Library, College Ave, Beaver, or to his church.

The family expresses their appreciation to the staff of The Medical Center for their care.
